The first part of our centenary celebration of Ingmar Bergman at Filmhouse takes us through a selection of mid/late 1950s gems from one of the most distinctive and influential voices in cinema, before skipping ahead slightly to show the compelling, witty and emotionally-rich Fanny and Alexander (which also is this month’s Growing Pains selection - on Mon 30 Apr at 7.30pm).

Recurring players like Harriet Andersson, Max von Sydow and Gunnar Björnstrand have rarely been better than when working with the director, and - as well as rolling out the iconic classics of Bergman’s filmography - this promises to be a season of discovery, surprise and delight. We have more lined up for our May/June programme - including Virgin Spring, Through a Glass Darkly, The Silence and Persona - as we progress into the 1960s and early ‘70s.

Until then - varsågod!
