Just how far is it acceptable to push actors in the name of cinema? This is the question raised by the testimony of six young women who were manipulated and sexually abused during an audition - groped, beaten and forced to undress without prior discussion or consent. When it was discovered that footage of the auditions had been made into a documentary a few years later, their traumatising experience resurfaced.
The women in question aren’t just fighting back through the courts. They have banded together to tell their story on camera in a sort of antidote to the toxic audition, including this documentary’s director Alison Kuhn. Turning the lens into a liberating outlet, rather than a predatory eye, their anger can be released and justice can be demanded.
This screening includes a pre-recorded Q&A discussion with cast members Aileen Lakatos and Isabelle Bertges, hosted by Lauren Clark from Femspectives. All tickets cost £5.
