Widely recognised as one of Britain’s finest landscape artists, Scottish artist James Morrison has led a life mixed up with the art of painting, intrinsically bound to the outdoors. Facing his greatest challenge yet in his twilight years, Morrison must cope with his fading eyesight as he embarks on one final painting. From his studio just outside Montrose, filmmaker Anthony Baxter follows him as he picks his brushes up for the last time following a series of operations. A fascinating and heartwarming exploration of what it means to be a landscape painter, Eye of the Storm layers contemporary and archival footage, as well as animation by Catriona Black, to reflect on Morrison’s extraordinary artistic life.
"Inexpressibly moving….James Morrison’s work was full of awe for the natural world, and this documentary does his landscape painting full justice." - Andrew Pulver, The Guardian
