Berlin, the Prenzlauer Berg district. When this summer day is over, nothing will ever be the same again - only Daniel (Daniel Brühl) doesn’t know that yet. With a stylish loft apartment and beautiful family, the protagonist of this tragicomic scenario is as unsuspecting as he is accustomed to success. On the way to an audition for a new superhero film, the celebrated German-Spanish actor pops into the local bar and finds Bruno (Peter Kurth) waiting for him. One of reunification’s losers and a victim of the gentrification of what was once East Berlin, Bruno has been waiting to exact his revenge - and Daniel is the target. Brühl’s directorial debut, combining razor-sharp dialogue with oddball bar-room banter, is an intimate chamber piece that takes on a genre of its own.
